01-28-13- Horizon Christian School is accepting applications for the following job opening:

Secondary Principal (Grades 7-12)

Requirements: Candidate must have a Masters Degree in related field, current or previous state teaching license, a minimum of five years professional experience with demonstrated performance results, commitment to a Biblical worldview, and passion for Christian education.

Position is responsible for the operational direction of the school secondary program including all aspects of the program. Duties include: academic – development and supervision of program; spiritual – serve as an inspirational leader in the development of "spiritual excellence". In addition, the position will determine teaching assignments, assist with student recruitment and student life, assist with financial and administrative details, and assist with development of funding sources for Horizon. May include some classroom teaching if assigned and/or substitute teaching when teachers are absent.

School Facts: Horizon Christian School has a current student body of 215 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and employs more than 25 teachers and administrative staff. Our school has families and teachers from many different area churches and is governed by an independent board of trustees. Horizon is regionally accredited by Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and is a member of Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

In November 2006 Horizon moved into a beautiful, new state of the art facility on eight acres of scenic property. The completed portion of the 51,000 square foot building includes spacious classrooms, up to date science labs, technology lab, full art room, a media center, band/music room, offices, meeting rooms, gymnasium, play area and soccer field. Additional phases will enable the school to complete the cafeteria and stage, and additional classroom space when needed.

Location: Horizon Christian School is located in beautiful Hood River, Oregon, just 60 miles east of Portland, Oregon on the Columbia River. Views of the might Columbia, majestic Mt Adams to the north, and Mt Hood to the south provide a picturesque setting for the valley which is known for its fruit and recreational opportunities. Students come from a radius of 30 miles in all directions – across the river in Washington state, east to The Dalles, south to Parkdale and Mt. Hood, and west to Cascade Locks and Stevenson.
